Preparing lessons plans for college-level students is much harder then you would imagine. I've told myself over and over that I can't set my expectations too high. Not all college students are overnight geniuses. I'm sure most wish they were, as do their professors, but they're not.
I'm also not looking forward to being referred to as Professor Prentiss. Ms. Prentiss doesn't work too well for me, either. I don't think I could ask them to call me Prentiss or Emily. This really shouldn't be this difficult, but it is. Of course, on top of that, you don't want your students to come in to your class expecting one thing, and you provide them with something completely different. Trying to remember my own classes back in college...you don't want to make it boring. When the professors just went on in their monotone voice, I was barely staying awake most of the time.
I've almost finished unpacking the few items that were transferred and brought in with me when I arrived. There's not much, but there's enough to survive on. I suppose I'll have to pick up a few more items.
JJ and Garcia -- I need to tell you that hearing 'Aunt Emily' is also very weird. |
